Mr. Jimmy Lee Mahone

Mr. Jimmy Lee Mahone, age 46 who resided at 174 Hawk Drive in Woodbury died on Wednesday, March 14th  at the Medical Management Nursing Home in Macon, Georgia. The family may be contacted at his resident.  Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 19th at 2:30 p.m. from the Concord CME Church in Woodbury.  Interment will follow in the Walker Memory Garden.  Rev. Mary Brown is pastor and Rev. Edward Harris will be the Eulogist.


Mr. Mahone is survived by 10 siblings: Shirley F. Mahone, Charlie Kate Mahone, Marvin L. Flemister, Kennedy Mahone, Norris Flemister, Willie Joe Mahone Jr and Donald Mahone (Meliva) all of Woodbury, GA; Georgia Mae Render (Norman) of College Park, GA; Mattie Gilmore of Homestead, FL; Eloise Searcy of Myrtle Beach, SC; a host of other relatives and friends that will miss him dearly.

Mr. John Henry Davis

Mr. John Henry Davis, age 76 who resided at 85 Mt. Zion Rd in Atlanta, Georgia died on Saturday, March 17th at the Grady Memorial Hospital.  The family may be contacted at the home of his sister, Margaret Archer at 311 Virginia Avenue in Barnesville, Georgia.  Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 24th at 1:00 p.m. from the Freeman/Fluellyn Memorial chapel at Bentley’s Funeral Home of Barnesville, Georgia.  Interment will follow in the Parkers Chapel Cemetery.  Bentley’s Funeral Home is in charge of all professional services.


Mr. Davis is survived by three children: Jackie Davis of Columbus, GA; Kenny Lyons and Willie Lewis of Barnesville, GA; 2 grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends that will miss him dearly.

Mr. Leonard Frank Hinton

Mr. Leonard Frank Hinton, age 85 who resided at 178 Bray Street in Woodbury, Georgia died on Tuesday, March 20th at the Oak View Nursing Home.  The family may be contacted at his resident.  Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 24th at 1:00 p.m. from the Friendship Baptist Church in Woodland Georgia.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Miss Charlotte Jackson

Miss Charlotte Jackson, age 47 formerly of Barnesville, Georgia died on Monday, March 26th at the Oakview Nursing Home in Waverly Hall, Georgia.  The family may be contacted at the home of her sister, Renee Jackson at 9 Hickory Street in Barnesville. Graveside services will be held on Friday, March 30th at 11:00 a.m. from the Griffin Memorial Garden cemetery.  Rev. Miss Renita Brown

Miss Renita Brown, age 51 who resided at 307 Ward Drive in Barnesville died on Saturday, March 24th at the Upson Regional Medical Center.  The family may be contacted at the home of her mother, Mrs. Allie Polly Clemons at 103 Adams Court in Barnesville.  Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 28th at 2:00 p.m. from the East Mt. Mrs. Nettie Weaver Johnson

Mrs. Mary Lee Brantley Akins

Mrs. Mary Lee Brantley Akins, age 99 who resided at 1337 McCullen Road in Barnesville

died on Monday, April 9th.  The family may be contacted at her resident.  Funeral services

will be held on Friday, April 13th at 11:00 a.m. from the Sardis Baptist Church in Barnesville.

Miss Theodora Lockhart

Miss Theodora Lockhart, age 59 of Thomaston died on Wednesday, April 11th at the Christian

Ministry Hospice.  The family may be contacted at the home of her mother, Elnora Lockhart at

36 Edna Road here in Thomaston.  Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 14th at 1:00

Mrs. Dorothy Mae James Dumas

Mrs. Dorothy Mae James Dumas, age 58, who lived 127 Dumas Road in Lamar County died Friday, April 13th. Mrs. Mary Frances Sheffield Martin

Mrs. Mary Frances Sheffield Martin, age 90 who resided at 778 Bartee Road in Woodbury died on Saturday, April 14th at the Warm Springs Nursing Home.  The family may be contacted at her resident.  Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 20th at 1:00 p.m. from the Mt. Mr. Clarence Stallings

Mr. Clarence Stallings, age 93formerly of Yatesville, Georgia passed away Saturday, April 14th at the Pine Pointe Hospice in Macon, Georgia.  Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 18th at 11:00 a.m. from the Raymond Henry Bentley Memorial chapel at Bentley’s Funeral Home in Thomaston.  Interment will follow in the King’s Hill cemetery in Culloden, Georgia. Rev. William H. Blackmon will be the Eulogist.

Mr. James Randolph Perry, Sr.

John 14:1-3….Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.  In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you.  I go to prepare a place for you.  And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself: that where I am, there ye may be also.

James Randolph Perry, Sr., was born on April 18, 1952 in Thomaston, GA on Happy Hill to the late Mrs. Willie Odell Perry and the late Mr. Johnny Brown.  Mr. Perry had a praying Grandmother, Mrs. Willie Ruth Smith, who was instrumental in raising, guiding, and influencing him to live his life for Jesus Christ. Mr. Perry is preceded in death by two siblings, Pamela Perry and William Harvey Brown.  Later in life, Perry formed a motherly relationship with Mrs. Vivian Brown.

Perry received his formal education from Drake High School and was very active in sports.  He played baseball under Coach Jim Brown and played Football under Coach Edward Nelson.  Perry coached the Triune Village Boys and Girls Softball Team and inspired many young people to move forward in their lives.

At age 12, Mr. Perry received the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and joined the Greater Mount Zion Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend N.S. Greenwood.  Later, Perry moved his membership to the Mary Lizzie Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend F. R. Strickland.

Mr. Perry met and fell in love with the love of his life, Lavon Kendall, and later they were married on July 16, 1972.  The Perry’s are the proud parents of three children whom he cherished:  Torsha, Olivia, and James, Jr., affectionately known as “Skip.”  The Lord blessed The Perry’s with six adorable grandchildren: Bryant, Briana, Alexus, Garyelle, Dylan, Kyndra, and one great grandchild, Braylen.  The family tree continues to bear good fruit with the addition of a son-in-law, Mr. Gary Thornton and three close family friends, Ms. Lelita Jackson, Ms. Denlisha Traylor, and Mr. Mark Howard.

The Lord has given Perry many opportunities to serve and advance His kingdom.  At age 21, Perry was ordained as a Deacon.  Over the years he served as the Chairman of Deacon Ministry for 10 years.  Continuing the work of the Lord, Perry served as Assistant Superintendent of Sunday School, Teen Sunday School Teacher, Youth Advisor and in numerous other capacities.

Perry was affiliated with the following civic organizations: Dumas Lodge #225, Prince Hall Affiliation, One of the youngest brothers (age 21) to be bestowed the honor of W.M. of Dumas Lodge #225, Past W.M. of Dumas Lodge #225, Mary & Martha Society, President, 100 Men in Black, Legal Redress Officer, NAACP, Chaplain, Happy Hill/Happy Bottom Reunion Club, Affiliated with Bentley & Sons Funeral working as a Mutual Aid Agent for 26 years, and former Vice-President of the Emancipation Proclamation Committee of Upson County.

Mr. Perry was the distinguished recipient of the 2011 Community Activist Award bestowed upon him by the NAACP on October 15, 2011.  Perry was employed by Wal-Mart as a door-greeter and freight handler.  Perry hobbies include: cooking, fishing, and sports.  Perry once testified that his proudest accomplishment in life is when he truly came to know Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.


Mr. Perry leaves to cherish his memories twenty-two siblings: Mr. Ronald Perry and Mr. Timothy Perry, both of Atlanta, GA., Ms. Vickie Perry, Jonesboro, GA., Ms. Carolyn Willis, Mr. Mitchell (Shirley) Perry, Mr. David (Linda) Perry, Mr. Curtis (Angela) Perry, and Mr. Andy Perry, all of Thomaston, GA., Mr. Johnnie A. Brown, Ms. Monica Woodron, Ms. Alesia Brown, Ms. Martha Holt, and Mr. Johnnie Brown, Jr. all of Atlanta, GA., Mr. Winfred (Nedra) York, Ms. Lizzie Mae Traylor, Ms. Cynthia McCraney, Ms. Phyllis (Mickey) Holt, Ms. Stephanie Cherry, Mr. John York, and Mrs. Barbara Turnipseed all of Thomaston, GA. Brother and Sister in Laws includes:  Mr. Freddie (Johnnie Ruth) Kendall of Columbus, GA, Mr. Frederick (Shahidah) Kendall of Long Island, NY, Mr. Robert (Carmen) Thompson, Mr. Charles Kindall, and Mrs. Artis (Emmett) Lary, all of Thomaston, GA. Aunts and Uncles are: Mrs. Elnora Pate Lockhart and Mr. Frank Otis (Juanita) Wiggins, all of Thomaston, GA., and Mr. Curtis Pate of Philadelphia, PA.  Mr. Perry is also survived by devoted friends who loved him as a brother, Mr. Charles and Mrs. Patricia Stroud Walker, Mr. Otis and Mrs. Willie Lee Solomon both of Thomaston, GA., along with a host of other relatives and friends who cherish his memory and will miss him dearly.

Mr. Eris Jamal Webb

Mr. Eris Jamal Webb, age 22 who resided at 717 ½ West Main Street in Thomaston died on

Monday May 21st at the Macon Medical Center of Central Georgia.  The family may be contacted at his resident.  Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 24th at 11:00 A.M. from the Thomaston Upson County Civic Center.  Interment will follow in the Southview Cemetery.  Pastor Bobby Smith will be the Eulogist.   Bentley’s Funeral Home is in charge of all professional services.


Eris Jamal Webb was the son of Mr. Freddrick Webb and Mrs. Pamela Denise Maunel. He was born November 14, 1989 in Thomaston, Upson County, Georgia.  He received his education from the Upson Lee High School where he graduated with the class of “2008”.  He was studying to be a Master Barber and Cosmetologist at the Southern Crescent Technical College.  Eris had a passion for music and dancing. He always loved to make people laugh.  He was an outgoing person that never met a stranger.  On Monday, May 21, 2012 he went to be at rest with the Lord.  He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Mr. Nolton Webb Jr. and he leaves to cherish his memories: his father, Mr. Freddrick M. Mrs. Glenda Walker Miller

Mrs. Glenda Walker Miller, age 51 who resided at 1485 Zorn Street in Thomaston  passed

Mrs. Constance Elmira Davis Thompson

Mrs. Eva Mae Jordan Harden

Mrs. Eva Mae Jordan Harden, age 88 who resided at 131 Johnson Street in Barnesville passed away on Wednesday, May 30th at the Heritage Inn Nursing Home.  The family may be contacted at her resident.  Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 5th at 1:00 p.m. from the East Mt. Mr. Johnny B. Caslin, age 50 who resided at 307 Richardson Street in Barnesville passed away

on Friday, June 1st.  The family may be contacted at the home of his sister, Cynthia Banks at 726

Freedonia Church road in Barnesville.  The family will be receiving friends on Tuesday, June 5th

from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Fluellyn/Freeman Memorial Chapel at Bentley’s Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 6th  at 1:00 p.m. from the Sandhill CME Church of Barnesville.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Lawrence Jefferson is pastor and Rev. Eddie Collier will be the Eulogist.  Bentley’s Funeral Home is in charge of all professional services.


Mr. Caslin is survived by his mother, Mary Caslin of Barnesville; 4 God children: Georgette Banks and Calandra Banks of Barnesville; Isaiah Bank of Norfolk, VA and Kayla Brown;  sisters: Yvonne Fambro (Johnny B) of Griffin, GA; Cynthia Banks (John) of Barnesville; aunt and uncle: Eddie White Jr. (Tommie) of Boston, MASS; Henrietta Caslin of Barnesville; nephews: Kevin Fambro, Joshua Banks,  Andre L Bess and Acie Fambro II; great niece, Miracle Bess; a host of other relatives and friends that will miss him dearly.

Mr. L. C. Evans

Mr. L. C. Evans, age 67 who resided at 2498 Hwy 36 in Milner, Georgia passed away on

Friday, June 1st at the Brightmoor Nursing Hospice.  The family may be contacted at his

resident.  Funeral services will be held on Sunday, June 3rd at 2:00 p.m. from the Unionville Methodist Church .  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  Pastor Ron Johnson will be the Eulogist.


Mr. Evans is survived by his mother, Mamie Cole Evans of High Fall Community; 4 children: Stephanie Webb (Steve), Tyrone Evans (Shannon), Tiffany Evans (Marco) and Brenda Williams (Rico) all of Griffin, GA; 15 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren: sisters and brother: Lillie Barkley and Willie C Evans of High Falls Community; Tommie Kendall (Mike) of Griffin, GA; devoted friends: Charlie Mayes, Ricky Smith and Randy Pittman all of Griffin, GA; a host of other relatives and friends that will miss him dearly.

Mrs. Sandra King Matthews

Mrs. Sandra King Matthews, age 50, who resided at 109 Ruthie Manor Drive #D  passed away on Wednesday, June 6th  at the Emory Medical Center in Decatur, Ga. Her daughter, Miss Shandra  O’Kedra Matthews (Emmanuel Worthy) and all other relatives can be contacted her resident. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 9th at 1:00 p.m. from the Greater Mt. Zion Baptist Church.  Interment will follow in the Fellowship Baptist Church cemetery.  Pastor Charles E. Mrs. Sandra King Matthews is survived by only one daughter, Miss. Shandra  O’Kedra Matthews of Thomaston, Ga.; aunts and uncles, Mrs. Cora Lee Campbell,  Deacon Earlie B. King (Barbara), Georgia Mae King all of Thomaston, Ga. and Mrs. Hattie Toles of Miami, Fl.; Mrs. Dorothy Owens, Mrs. Claudia Owens, Mr. Willie James Owens (Ella Mae) all of Thomaston, Ga. and Mrs. Earlene Foster of Lutherville, Ga; two brothers in law, Mr. Alvin Matthews and Mr. Bruce Matthews both of Thomaston, Ga.; Several devoted cousins and close friends who will miss her dearly.   

Mrs. Corine Walker Davis

Mrs. Corine Walker Davis, age 87 who resided at 116 Vine Lane in Thomaston passed away

on Wednesday, June 6th at the Upson Regional Medical Center.  The family may be contacted

at her resident.  Funeral services will be on Monday, June 11th at 1:00 P.M. at New Shady Grove

Mrs. Davis is survived by her children:  Mildred Searcy, Larry Walker (Jackie), Connie Davis,

Ethelene Traylor and Willie Davis all of Thomaston, GA; Joseph Davis, Dave Louwinski (Louise) of Atlanta, GA; Rosie Davis of Connecticut; 3 grandchildren she assisted in rearing: Nason Blackwell, Lovely Walker and Joshua Davis; 3 sisters: Mrs. Virginia Caldwell of Decatur, GA; Mrs. Ruthie Childs and Mrs. Rebecca Searcy of Dayton, OH; sister-in-law, Mary A. Walker; 2 brothers-in-law: Nathaniel Searcy of Dayton, OH; Andrew Davis of South Carolina; a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and many other friends who will miss her dearly.

Mrs. Doris Jean Jordan Grace

Mrs. Doris Jean Jordan Grace, age 81 who resided at 121 Worthy Drive passed away on Friday, June 15th at the Riverside Nursing Home.  The family may be contacted at her resident. The family will be having a private visitation on Thursday, June 21st from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Raymond Henry Bentley Memorial Chapel at Bentley’s Funeral.  Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 22nd at 11:00 a.m. from the St. Peters The Rock Catholic Church on Hwy 36 East. Interment will follow at the Lincoln Memorial Cemetery.  Father Neil Herlihg will be the officiator. Mrs. Grace is survived by one son, Richard O Grace (Christina) of Detroit, MI; 5 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren; one sister, Louise Adams of Detroit, MI; 2 step daughters: Teresa Francis and Joyce Lewis; a host of nieces, nephews, God-children, cousins and friends that will miss her dearly.

Mrs. Elnora Furlow Bush
