Mr. Albert Mays

Mr. Albert Mays, age 52 who resided at 397 Atlanta Street in Barnesville died on Saturday, October 29th at the Upson Regional Medical Center.  Memorial services for Mr. Mays will be held on Saturday, November 5th at 1:00 p.m. from the Freeman / Fluellyn Memorial chapel at Bentley’s Funeral Home of  Barnesville.  Rev. Travis Holmes will officiate. 


Mr. Mays is survived by several siblings: George Calvin Mays, Samuel Mays and Charlie Mays all of Barnesville, GA; Starley Mays, Wahidah Allah (Karim) and Annie L. Mays all of Atlanta, GA;  Katherine Mays of Yatesville, Ga; aunt, Estell Smith; uncle, Starley Junior Smith both of Atlanta, GA; God-mother, Annie Furlow of Barnesville; other relatives includes; Walter Furlow, Cynthia Furlow,

Sammie Furlow, Linda Albury, John Furlow, Michael Furlow, Patricia Furlow and Russell Daniels; a host of friends that will miss him dearly.

MR. JOHN WALTER STAFFORD WHO LIVED 300 ROBERTS ROAD IN LAMAR COUNTY DIED ON WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 26TH. Mrs Charlie Mae Jordan Thomas

Mrs. Charlie Mae Jordan Thomas, age 86 formerly of Culloden, Georgia, moved to Atlanta years ago died on Wednesday, October 26th at the Old Lady Perpetual Home in Atlanta.  Graveside services for Mrs. Thomas will be held on Thursday, November 3rd at the Jones Family cemetery in Culloden. Bentley’s Funeral Home is in charge of all professional services.  Rev. Robert Releford will officiate.


Mrs. Thomas is survived by her sister, Gloria Haynie of Maryland; a host of play daughters, cousins, nieces, nephews  and friends that will miss her dearly. 

Mrs Barbara Jo Colquitt Barnes

Mrs. Barbara Jo Colquitt Barnes,  formally of Upson County, passed away on Friday, October 29, 2011 at Emory Hospital in Decatur, Georgia.  The family can be contacted at the home of her mother-in-law Mrs. Susie Barnes who lives 419 Barnesville Street.   Bentley’s And Sons Funeral Home is in charge of all professional services.  Funeral services  for Mrs. Barbara Jo Barnes will be held on Wednesday,  November 2, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Greater Mt. Mr Curtis Walker

Mr. Curtis Walker, age 77 who lived 303 Moores Crossing Road died on Sunday, October 30th .  The family can be contacted at his resident.  Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 2nd at 11:00 a.m. from the Midway Baptist Church.  Interment will follow in the Lincoln Memorial Cemetery.  Pastor Dr. A. C. O’Neal will be the eulogist.

Mr Arthur Fletcher

Mr. Arthur Fletcher, age 77 who resided at 106 Jackson Street in Barnesville died on Saturday, November 12th.  The family can be contacted at his resident.  Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 17th at 2:00 p.m. from the West Mt. Ms Betty Ann Milner

Ms. Betty Ann Milner, age 56 who resided at 623 MLK Street in Greenville, Georgia died on

Mr Bentley “Calvin Ellerbee”

Mr. Bentley “Calvin Ellerbee”, age 74 who lived 705 A Barnesville Street in Thomaston died on Wednesday, November 2nd at the Golden Living Center.  The family may be contacted at the home of his son, Antonio Ellerbee at 506 Barnesville Street here in Thomaston.  Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 7th at 2:00 p.m. from the Fellowship Baptist Church.  Rev. Mr David Ernest Clemons Sr

Mrs Celestine Cardwell Virden

Mrs. Celestine Cardwell Virden, age 89 who resided at 2165 Rugby Avenue in College Park, Georgia died on Friday, November 25th.  The family can be contacted at her resident.  Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 2nd at 11:30 a.m. from the East Mt. Mrs Katherine Clark Napier

Mrs. Katherine Clark Napier, age 69 who resided at 513 ½ North Bethel Street died on Tuesday, November 29th.  The family can be contacted at her resident.  Funeral services will be Tuesday, December 6th. at 1:00 P.M.  at the Macedonia Baptist Church. Mr Charlie Will Powell

community died on Tuesday, December 13th at the Upson Regional Medical Center.  The

Mrs Christine Moreland Trice

Mrs. Christine Moreland Trice, age 80 who resided at 1787 Carroll Chunn Road in Woodbury died on Monday, December 12th.  The family may be contacted at her resident.  Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 17th at 1:00 p.m. from the Mt. Mrs Mary Nell Brown Parham

Mary Nell Brown Parham was born on June 11, 1943 to the parentage of the late Willie James Brown and Rosa Nell Griffin Brown in Woodbury, Georgia.  She received her education from the Meriwether County Public school system.


At an early age, she joined the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church where she attended faithfully before

her illness.  She was united in holy matrimony to Roy Parham, to this one union one son was born. 


Mary was a quiet and humble person who loved the Lord and her family.  She enjoyed cooking and baking goods for her family and friends.  She loved fishing and being outdoors.  She retired from the Nabisco Company after working for over 25 years.


On Friday, December 16, 2011 God whispered quietly in her ear and called her home to be at rest.  She leaves to cherish her memories: one son, Render Brown (Sharon) of  Thomaston, GA; granddaughter, Tameka Bradford; great-granddaughter, Taylor Harris; brother and sisters: Willie James Brown (Reaver), Catherine B. Carter, Gladys Leonard, Margaret Hinton and Brenda Jean Brown (Al) all of Woodbury; Mae Willis Clark of New York; aunts:  Mae Walker of Manchester, GA; Cornelia Walton of Miami, Fl; Geneva Murray of Atlanta, GA; Jeanette Farley of Barnesville, GA; Nellie Mae Mitchell (Winston) of Woodbury, GA; Lovenia Copeland (Johnny) of Manchester, GA; Mattie Render of Greenville, GA; Ruby Walton of Miami, Fl;

uncle, Hugh Slaton of New York; sister-in-law, Mary Easter Parham of Woodbury; a host of other  relatives and friends that will miss her dearly.

Mr Joe Pope Jr

Mr. Joe Pope Jr. age 45 who resided at 119 Bethany Road in Williamson, Georgia died on Wednesday, January 4th at the Henry Medical Center.  The family may be contacted at the home of his mother, Myrtice Pope at 144 Short Jay Street in Woodbury.  Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 7th at 1:00 p.m. from the Woodbury Miracle Fellowship Center.Bishop Thomas Daniels will be the Eulogist.  Interment will follow in the Walker MemorGarden.  Bentley’s Funeral of Woodbury, Georgia is in charge of all professional services.

Mr David Pennamon

Mr. David Pennamon, age 88 who resided at 127 Lockett Street in Culloden, Georgia died on Wednesday, January 4th at the Pine Pointe Hospice in Macon, Georgia.  The family may be contacted at his resident.  Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 7th at 11:00 p.m from the St. Phillip AME Church of Culloden, Georgia.  Interment will follow in the King Hill cemetery.  Pastor Michael Davis will be the Eulogist.   Bentley’s Funeral Home of Thomaston, Georgia is in charge of all professional services.

John Wilkerson) of Barnesville, GA; Virginai (John) Lyons of Forsyth, GA; 14 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren; brother, Osie L. (Rosa Bell) Pennamon of Forsyth, GA; sister, late Martha Howard; sisters-in-law, Annie Bell (Johnnie L) White of Culloden; Annie Clyde (B.H.) Mrs Drue Cilla Mann

Mrs. Drue Cilla Mann, age 83 who resided at 1092 Solomon Street in Thomaston died on Friday, January 6th at the Upson Regional Medical Center.  The family may be contacted at her resident. Mrs. Mann is survived by three children: Daniel (Lila) Mann, James (Brenda) Mann and David (Bessie) Mann all of  Thomaston, GA; 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; 5 siblings: Farsha Rutherford of Philadelphia; Mary Swain, Ozzie White and Jonas Burnett all of Atlanta, GA; Joe Lewis Burnett of Rochester, NY; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends that will miss her dearly.

Mrs Nadine Walker Collier

Mrs. Nadine Walker Collier, age 89 who resided at 150 N Railroad Street in Barnesville died on Sunday, January 8th at her resident.  The family may be contacted at her resident.  Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 12th at 1:00 p.m. from the Sugar Hill AME Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  Rev. Jeffery Gladney will be the Eulogist.

Mrs Geneva Sutton Taylor

Mrs. Geneva Sutton Taylor, age 64, who resided at 117 Lanette Circle in Barnesville died on Tuesday, January 10th.  The family may be contacted at her resident. Mrs. Geneva S. Sutton is survived by a daughter and son, Vincent Taylor (Rosalinda) of Ellenwood, Ga. and Jennifer Taylor Perryman of Stockbridge, Ga.; one grandchild, Quantravious R. Taylor of Thomaston, Ga.; two brothers, Rev. John Robert Sutton (Doris) of Warner Robins, Ga., and Mr.Webster Sutton of Griffin, Ga.; one sister, Mrs. Gloria Muntaz of Lawrenceville, Ga. Mrs Ceola Turmon Drake

Mrs. Ceola Turmon Drake, age 84, a retired school teacher from the Upson County Public School System died Wednesday night, January 11th. at The Odyssey Hospice Care Home in Decatur, Ga. Funeral services for Mrs. Drake will be at 12:00 Noon on Tuesday, January 17th. at  the Macedonia Baptist Church, Pastor Eddie Johnson will officiate. Deacon Aldine Woodard

Deacon Aldine Woodard, age 83 of 112 Vine Lane, Potato Creek Heights community in Upson County died on Friday, January 13th  at the Providence Health & Rehab.  The family can be contacted at his resident.  Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 19th at 1:00 p.m. from the Greater Mt. Woodard, Ryan C. Ward, Brandon G. Henry and Jada Raines; two great-grandchildren: Haley Ward and Haydan Ward; sister-in-law, Barbara Woodard of Detroit, MI; close friends: Deacon J. E. Mrs. Rannie Pearl Hickmon Childs, age 71 who resided at 76 Maloy Road Apt-B in Griffin, Georgia died on Wednesday, January 18th at the Regency Hospital in Atlanta. Mr John “Rean Boy” Clay

Mr. John “Rean Boy” Clay, age 67 who resided at 134 Lincoln Park Circle in Thomaston died on Sunday, January 22nd at the Columbus Regional Health Care. Mr Grady “Sam” Price

Mr Horace Culpepper

Mr. Horace Culpepper, age 82 who resided at 189 Gates Road in Woodbury past away on Saturday, Feb 4th at the Roberta Health Care.  The family may be contacted at the home of his cousin, Paul Gates at 189 Gates Road in Woodbury.  Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 11th at 12:00 noon from the Gates/Loveless Memorial Chapel at Bentley’s Funeral Home of Woodbury, Georgia.  Interment will follow in the Walker Memorial Garden.

Mr Horace Culpepper

William Terrell Holmes “Ted” formerly of Thomaston passed away February 11, 2012 in Detroit, Michigan.  The family will be meeting at the home of  Mary Chaney at 402 Moores Crossing road on Saturday, February 18th at 12:00 noon .   Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 18th at 1:00 p.m. from the Macedonia Baptist Church.  Interment will follow in the Lincoln Memorial cemetery.  Pastor Eddie Johnson Sr. will be the Eulogist.  Bentley’s Funeral Home is in charge of all professional services.

Mr. Holmes  is survived by his wife, Zepher Mae Ivey Holmes of Detroit, MI; four children:  Anthony Holmes of Toledo, OH, Marcus Holmes of Macedon,  NY, Brian Holmes of Detroit, MI and Stacey Gates of Long Beach CA; 12 grandchildren, one sister Doris Cherry of Hampton, GA, one brother Eugene Holmes of Detroit; one brother-in-law Fred Ivey of Thomaston, GA;  he is also survived by the entire Barnes, Smith and Hughley family of the Thomaston and Culloden areas.  

Deacon Samuel O’Neal

Deacon Samuel O’Neal, age 73 passed away Saturday, February 25, 2012 at the Heritage Inn in Barnesville, Georgia.  Family and friends will meet at the home of his sister, Hattie Holston at 112 Bradley Circle in Barnesville.  Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. from the Sardis Baptist Church in Barnesville, Georgia. 

Deacon O’Neal is survived by 4 children; one whom preceded him in death; 9 grandchildren, 6 sisters, 3 brothers; two brothers whom preceded him in death; 2 daughters-in-law, 1 son-in-law, 1 sister-in-law, 1 brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Mr. Nathaniel Raglin

Mr. Nathaniel Raglin, age 74 who resided at 94 Raglin Street in Yatesville died on Monday, March 5th at the Upson Regional Medical Center.  The family may be contacted at his resident.
